Dr Steven Kahane is a specialist Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon based on the Gold Coast with fellowship qualifications from both Australia and England. He specialises in hip and knee surgery, arthroscopy, lower limb joint replacement and sports surgery together with general orthopaedic trauma. He has a particular interest in hip fracture surgery and leads the public neck of femur service at Robina Hospital.
Dr Kahane undertook specialist orthopaedic training in London on the prestigious Percivall Pott training program. After completing his six years specialist orthopaedic training and Fellowship examinations from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, he undertook a one-year Australian Orthopaedic Association Approved Fellowship at the Gold Coast University Hospital working with Dr Price Gallie. He undertook the specialist recognition pathway through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and was successful in the Australasian fellowship exam.
Dr Kahane has been working as a consultant surgeon at the Gold Coast University Hospital, Robina Hospital and the Varsity Lakes Day hospital since February 2019. He holds the title of Assistant Professor at Bond University and Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedics at Griffith University. Dr Kahane works closely with GP’s and patients, to identify their problem, make a diagnosis and explain their symptoms. He offers patients the latest and best advice on how to treat their condition so as to maximise their quality of life.
Dr Kahane accepts both DVA and Work Cover patients and is now consulting at the Gold Coast Private Hospital Suites.
